Project Details
Nestled in a quiet area on the outskirts of the city, the Ellington House sits on a few acres next to a calm, lakeside community. It’s a home that’s beautifully designed to capture the family’s shared affinity for modern architecture, with subtle influences of traditional Asian design.
As they were planning their beautiful forever home, the family wanted to bring the same intentionality to the furniture that they selected for each space. They really liked the style of our Ellington Collection, and commissioned a series of pieces in the style to offer a consistency throughout.
The home features a stunning open-concept atrium at the center of the house with beautiful views of the surrounding property, and it was important to design pieces that maintained the balance of the space.
For the dining table, the client wanted something which showcased the natural beauty of the Walnut slabs, but maintain an openness that wouldn’t hinder the chairs or block the views. We opted for a cantilevered, pedestal concept which offered solutions to both, while maintaining an interesting aesthetic edge.
The master bedroom, located just off the main living space, was important to get just right. The client wanted a bed that was practical, but made a statement, incorporating elements of the Ellington design. As a result, the Ellington Bed, complete with custom, recessed “night” lighting, was born.
This remains one of our favorite projects to date - both because of the fantastic clients we had the opportunity to work with, and for the chance to create beautiful pieces for such a beautiful home.
